Margot Washable Rug and coffee table

In this rug review, we’ll dig into how Cozey performs in high-traffic homes, explore its features, look at user feedback, and help you decide if it’s the right choice for your space.

Cozy
  • Washable-rug vibes at a friendlier price point than many big-name competitors.
  • Feels cozy underfoot, especially when paired with the cushioning pad for a bit of bounce.
  • Unfussy setup and a design that looks sharper in person than in photos.
Not so cozy
  • Boxed packaging can leave noticeable creases that take days to relax after unrolling.
  • In high-traffic areas, you may notice slight rippling as the rug settles on the pad; a quick smooth-over or adjustment typically resolves it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Cozey rugs machine washable?

Yes — that's the main selling point. Cozey's rugs are designed to go straight into a standard home washing machine. Just roll it up, toss it in on cold, and tumble dry on low. It's a game-changer if you have kids, pets, or just a general talent for spilling things. The rug comes out looking like new without any of the fuss of professional cleaning.

How does a Cozey rug feel underfoot?

Softer than you'd expect for a washable rug. Most washable rugs sacrifice texture for practicality, but Cozey's feels plush and has a decent weight to it. It doesn't slide around on hard floors either, though adding a rug pad is always a good idea for extra grip. It's not as thick as a high-pile wool rug, but it holds its own in comfort.

Is Cozey a good rug brand?

Cozey is better known for their modular sofas, but their rug line follows the same playbook — practical, well-designed, and priced for real life. If you're comparing to dedicated rug brands like Ruggable, Cozey offers a similar washable concept with a slightly different aesthetic. It's a strong option if you already like the Cozey design language and want your rug to match.

Do Cozey rugs shed or pill?

Some initial shedding is normal for the first few weeks, especially with regular foot traffic. After that, it settles down. Pilling hasn't been a major issue — the fibers hold up well through washing and daily use. If you notice light shedding early on, a quick vacuum takes care of it.

About

Cozey

Cozey is Canada's first sofa-in-a-box brand, founded in 2020 by Frédéric Aubé in Montreal after he realized moving bulky sofas through tight apartment doorways and waiting months for delivery made no sense. What started as a solution to a very real problem has grown into a fully modular furniture system designed for people who move, experiment, and don't want their space dictated by logistics.

"With simplicity, personalization, a great value proposition, and our community at the heart of what we do, we are laser-focused on creating 7-star customer experiences."

Cozey believes furniture should be simple and stress-free to own. They obsess over assembly, delivery, and the experience of actually living with what you buy—not just designing something pretty. Every piece is built for life as it's actually lived: modular, fixable, and thoughtfully engineered so you're never stuck with something that doesn't work.

I like how this rug blends a clean, modern design with a setup that’s both easy and surprisingly fun - align, smooth, done. The washable construction is a real stress-saver for busy homes, and the wide range of sizes makes it simple to fit anything from a hallway runner to a living-room anchor. Best of all, it delivers that polished look at a price that feels refreshingly fair.

As the cold Canadian winter rolls in, I wanted to make my living room feel warmer and brighter, and adding a rug turned out to be the perfect refresh. I’ve already had a great experience with Cozey pieces - an Atmosphere sofa and Stella coffee table - so a washable rug felt like a natural next step to tie everything together, add a soft layer underfoot, and lift the space without a full redesign.

Browsing the site, I was genuinely impressed by the wide range of colors and modern patterns - the kind of selection that makes it easy to match your space without compromise. The included rug pad and washable construction were the clinchers for me: practical, low-maintenance, and exactly what I need for a busy, spill-prone home.

I chose the Margot Washable Rug in Quartz, and I love that many designs come in two coordinated colorways - one lighter, one darker - so you can pick the tone that fits your space. The AR preview made the decision even easier; seeing the rug at scale in my living room gave me confidence in the pattern, size, and placement before I clicked “buy.”

Once the order was in, it was mostly a waiting game. Because the Margot in Quartz is a newer, high-demand release, my delivery stretched a little past two weeks - longer than Cozey’s typical timelines, which (judging by customer reviews on their site) often land within about a week. The trade-off felt reasonable given the popularity, and the process was smooth: clear order confirmations, tracking updates, and no surprises. With a sunny, unseasonably mild fall, I didn’t mind the extra days - and it gave me time to plan the room layout and placement before the box arrived.

The rug arrived in a well-protected box, neatly packed and easy to handle despite the 8' × 10' size and substantial weight. Inside, everything was organized: the rug cover folded carefully, the rug pad in interlocking “puzzle” pieces for quick assembly, and a clear instruction sheet to guide setup.

Rug Pad Installation

Setup was refreshingly simple - and even kid-friendly. We snapped the rug-pad “puzzle” pieces together in minutes, aligned the pad to the room edges, then laid the rug over top and pressed the corners to secure. A quick smooth from the center outward finished the job. Any light creases from shipping typically relax on their own within a few weeks - and they’ll smooth out completely after a wash.

I genuinely enjoy walking on this rug with the pad underneath - it has a subtle, springy “bounce” that takes the edge off hard floors and makes every step feel cushioned. The combo adds just the right amount of give without feeling squishy, so it’s comfortable for standing while cooking, playing with kids on the floor, or working at the coffee table. It also dampens noise nicely and keeps the rug feeling anchored and stable, which adds to the overall sense of quality underfoot.

Just a heads-up: a few creases from shipping are still faintly there after a couple of week - I haven’t tried to speed things up, but I’m confident a first wash (or a bit more time) will smooth them out. And in busy moments the top layer can shift just a touch on the pad, but a quick hand-smooth sets it right again.

I’m impressed by the rug’s modern, streamlined patter - it reads sophisticated without competing with the rest of the room. The light Quartz tone reflects natural light and visually opens up the space, making the living area feel brighter and more airy throughout the day. It pairs effortlessly with neutral upholstery and wood floor, adding polish while keeping the palette calm. Overall, it’s a contemporary lift that freshens the room without demanding a full redesign. If you’re using a high-suction vacuum, note that the top layer can occasionally shift slightly on the pad, which can make thorough vacuuming a bit fiddly - dialing back suction or using a gentler pass usually solves it.
