About Serena & Lily
Serena & Lily started in 2003 when Serena Dugan (a textile designer and artist) and Lily Kanter (who'd spent years in the business world) decided to build a furniture brand their way. They landed on coastal California aesthetics — breezy, sophisticated, lived-in — and based themselves in Sausalito, where they could stay connected to what actually inspires them. Two decades later, they're still doing that same thing: making furniture and home goods that feel like they belong in a house where people actually live, not a magazine spread.
What sets them apart is the specificity. Custom upholstery isn't an add-on; it's the foundation. Their Riviera Collection became iconic because of genuinely good proportions and fabric choices, not because of marketing. They run design shops across the country where you can actually sit on things and talk to someone who knows what they're doing. And they handle the logistics part seriously — White Glove delivery for furniture means it shows up assembled with packaging gone, not dumped on your porch.
Product Ranges
Sofas and seating anchor their line, built on customizable upholstery. Beds, dining tables, and outdoor pieces follow the same philosophy — clean lines, real materials, designed to last. Then there's the supporting cast: bedding and bath linens in quality fabrics, rugs that ground a room, lighting that actually works, and smaller décor items (mirrors, art, tabletop) that fill the gaps thoughtfully. Kids' furniture exists too, designed with the same care.
Materials and Manufacturing
They're known for using real materials — solid wood frames, quality upholstery fabrics, substantial hardware — and not cutting corners on construction. Custom upholstery means you're choosing specific fabrics and finishes rather than picking from a fixed lineup, which matters when you're investing in something meant to stick around. That approach extends across their range, whether it's a rug or a lighting fixture. It's the kind of brand where the details feel intentional because they actually are.
