Albany Park was founded by Daryll and Jessica Sharpton to simplify sofa shopping.
I tested Albany Park's Park Sectional in Olive Velvet, plus a matching ottoman.
The Park sectional is available in a variety of fabrics and two leg colors; you can even customize the chaise’s orientation.
As a general rule, I love leather sofas and chairs. I love the high-quality look and buttery-soft feel of luxurious leather furniture – and it’s also easy to clean. However, one of my friends recently remodeled her home, and I was pretty impressed with her fabric-based living room furniture collection. So, when I was offered the opportunity to test a Park Sectional Sofa, I jumped at the chance to try it out. I was already thinking about getting a new sofa for a spare room – and I wanted one that was not only comfortable but would also look good in that space.
After bouncing around, working, and lying around binge-watching TV shows on it for a few weeks, this is my review of the sofa.
Getting hands-on with the Park Sectional Sofa
Ordering from Albany Park
Albany Park is a direct-to-consumer brand that makes sofas, sectional sofas, armchairs, and ottomans. I was sent the Park Sectional Sofa and Ottoman in olive velvet. However, the Park Sectional is also available in blue velvet, mustard velvet, and rust velvet. Other choices include grey fabric, boucle, and distressed vegan leather.
The Park Sectional Sofa is mid-century inspired and can also be customized with gold or black legs, and there’s an option to choose a left-facing or right-facing orientation. Note: think carefully about the orientation since you can’t move the chaise part around if you change your mind.
The Park Sectional is part of “The Park” Collection – and I think it’s the most stylish of the three collections. The other two collections are The Albany and The Kova. Each collection has a unique look and is available in several fabric options.

Delivery and assembly
The sofa ships in several boxes. On the day of delivery, I received a Ring doorbell alert and ran downstairs to see that the sofa had arrived. Since I was preparing to leave, I thought that I could drag the boxes over to the garage, but they weren’t that heavy, but they were heavy enough that I soon abandoned that idea.
I have 17 steps from the ground level to the main living area, so moving the boxes up the stairs by myself was not an option. I called one of my friends, and he was able to move all of the boxes by himself – so one person could move them.
The assembly process took a little longer than expected. It was surprising because its website states that assembly takes 15 minutes — and in the video, the founder just slides the pieces into the brackets and places the cushions on top. However, the video shows the last stage of assembly. Before you get to that point, you have to line up the hardware and add the legs and brackets to the sofa. Some pre-drilled holes were not properly aligned, which delayed the process. As a result, it took over an hour to assemble the sofa.
Living with the Park Sectional
As you can tell by the photos, the sofa was delivered during the holidays, so I had plenty of time to lounge around on it. It definitely feels comfortable, and it’s evident that it’s well-made. There’s plenty of room for a blanket, books, laptop, and gifts, whether sitting up or lying down. Plus, the ottoman can be placed at the end of the chaise, in the middle of the sofa, or on the right side — wherever it’s set, it fits perfectly.
The Park Sectional manages to be a big sofa without being bulky. That’s why it may not look like it, but it’s 114 inches wide. The left side (with the chase) is 63 inches in depth, and the right side is 35 inches. That provides plenty of room for other people to sit comfortably on the sofa as well.
My leather sofa collection is medium-firm, so I like that the Park Sectional is more of a medium plush, so it’s not too firm but not too soft. It has two layers of foam that are wrapped in feathers. The pillows are also comfortable when used for long periods.

I don’t have kids or a dog, so I can’t attest to how it would hold up with them. But it certainly seems to be durable enough to handle anything. The company recommends regularly vacuuming and using a microfiber cloth to remove dust and debris. For stains, dab the stained area with the corner of a damp, clean cloth.
I also love the rich, velvet color, which makes the sectional look perhaps more expensive than it is. And the gold legs (instead of the black legs) make it look even more luxurious.
Pros
Beautiful design: The mid-century style and smart details make this a versatile sectional that can fit well in any home ranging from traditional to modern.
Comfortable: The sectional is made of foam wrapped in feathers, making it soft but not too soft.
Versatility: Since the chaise can be configured for either the left or the right side, the sectional can be tailored to fit your room. Plus, you can choose from two leg colors and several fabrics.
Convenience: The sectional ships right to your front door and is in several boxes, so you can easily move it by yourself.
Cons
Fixed chaise: The chaise can’t be switched to the other side of the sofa. If you choose a left orientation, it will forever be on the left side of the couch.
Low arms on the sides may not provide back support for tall people who want to sit sideways.
The Albany Park Sectional is very comfortable. It’s plush and a little softer than a medium-firm sofa. That means it’s soft but not so soft that you don’t feel like it’s providing support.
What upholstery choices does the Park have?
The Park collection feature fully upholstered seat cushions and it is available in seven fabric choices: Distressed Vegan Leather, Blue Velvet, Mustard Velvet, Olive Velvet (featured in this review), Rust Velvet, Grey Fabric, and Boucle.
How quickly will it be delivered?
The Park collection is made and shipped right here in North America, and they get those sofas out to you as soon as they can. When viewing a sofa on Albany Park's website you'll be shown an estimated shipped date as well as a delivery window. Albany Park offers free shipping on all orders.
Albany Park was founded to simplify sofa buying
In 2017, Darryl and Jessica Sharpton wanted a new sofa for their home. But they soon realized the process was much more complex than it needed to be. The pair were overwhelmed by the options available in showrooms and online. And once you'd found a sofa you liked, the long delivery times were also frustrating.
The entrepreneurial couple decided to change things, and founded Albany Park.
“These sofas are handmade in North America, which allows us to be more conscious of our footprint.”
To fix the industry, the Sharptons developed three models of sofa that could meet the needs of most people — The Albany, The Park, and The Kova. They also decided to sell these sofas directly to consumers online to save expensive showroom costs, and additional shipping costs — these savings enabled to them make the sofas more affordable for consumers.
Along with fast shipping, Albany Park furniture also comes packaged in apartment-friendly, space-conscious boxes that can easily be maneuvered in stairwells, tight hallways and throughout any home.

The Park Sectional is versatile and comfortable enough to be used in any room in your home. And after using it for a good amount of time, it certainly feels durable enough for families and pets, and the timeless design allows it to look good for years to come. It also ships quickly in several boxes, making it easy to move around – even if you’re by yourself.
