Burrow offers modern, design-forward furniture that’s built to last
The Serif coffee table can provide a timeless addition to any living space
Inspired by mid-century and Scandinavian design, Burrow’s pieces are minimal, organic, and all sorts of gorgeous
My partner and I bought a house a couple of years ago, and in my haste to fill it with furniture, I bought several pieces that I now regret. One of those pieces was a coffee table. I never loved it, but I talked myself into getting it because it was practical and had just the right dimensions for our space. But every time I looked at it I was reminded of how much I didn‘t like it.
So, when I was generously asked if I wanted to bring home the Burrow Serif Coffee Table and review it, I was thrilled to say the least. But I was even more thrilled once I got to see just how beautiful it is in person.
Getting hands-on with the Serif Coffee Table
If I had to describe our home’s ever-evolving aesthetic, I’d say it’s fairly organic and minimal, featuring a combination of boho, mid-century, and Scandinavian elements. So I couldn‘t believe my luck when presented with the opportunity to review the Serif Coffee Table, which rocks many of the same elements and turned out to be a perfect complement to our living room furniture.
Burrow is best known for its Nomad Sofa and modular sectionals. And like those pieces, the coffee table definitely has a mid-century-meets-Scandinavian feel, thanks to its sleek, minimalist silhouette and organic construction.
Made from ash, the solid wood table comes in two finishes—Oak and Walnut. I opted for Oak, which is the lighter of the two options, because we’re trying to brighten up the look of our living room. But the Walnut is also gorgeous, so it wasn’t an easy decision.
In addition to the table’s finish and overall look, I really love its details. Each curve is thoughtfully carved into a soft, rounded edge, so there are no sharp angles to bop you in the knee when you walk by. And the solid wood table features long hardwood planks that span its entire length, rather than a series of short planks cobbled together, giving it a high-end, sophisticated look.
Delivery and construction
Shortly after placing my order, I received a confirmation email, and it wasn’t longer than a day or so before I received a shipping notifcation for the coffee table. It’s also worth mentioning that Burrow offers free shipping, which is always a bonus, especially for bigger pieces of furniture like coffee tables.
About a week after the coffee table was shipped, it arrived at our house in a single long flat box. I was a little worried that the flat box meant assembly would be a pain, but it truly couldn’t be easier. All I needed to do was screw the legs into the table by hand. That’s it. No tools required. I was finished in less than 10 minutes.
I was a little worried that the flat box meant assembly would be a pain, but it truly couldn’t be easier.
I enlisted my partner to help me flip it over and carry it into the living room after we assembled it, but I’m fairly confident I could have done that myself if he wasn’t around.
Living with the Serif Coffee Table
I have a strange blocker when it comes to designing my living space. Like I mentioned, I really disliked our old coffee table, but I dragged my feet on replacing it because I didn’t think a replacement would really make that much of a difference in the overall look and feel of our living room. Boy, was I wrong.
Our living room looked 10 times better the moment we put the Serif Coffee Table in it. The table’s timeless Danish-inspired design was a perfect fit for our aesthetic. But the beauty of this table is that it will look great in all sorts of living spaces, from mid-century or minimalist designs to looks that lean more contemporary or eclectic.
Our living room looked 10 times better the moment we put the Burrow Serif Coffee Table in it
While the photos on Burrow’s website are beautiful, they don’t fully do the coffee table justice. In person, it’s stunning. The table features a rich, warm finish that’s a great complement to the other organic elements in our space, like a rattan bookshelf and floating wood shelves. It also features an airy, pared-back silhouette that makes our space feel lighter and breezier while still providing abundant surface area for all of our essentials.
Of course, the best coffee tables should do more than simply look great. Coffee tables tend to see a lot of traffic, with remotes, books, cocktails, and more being shuffled about on their surface. Ours is no exception, so I was delighted when I discovered how durable the table feels. Its solid wood construction means its heavier than it looks, which is a good thing—I know I can stack books, candles, and other heavy items on it without worrying whether it can hold their weight. I also don’t have to worry too much when my five-year-old niece sits on it when my back is turned.
Because the table is made of solid wood, you’ll want to use coasters to prevent any rings or warping on the top. But other than that, I feel confident that this table won’t cause any headaches when it comes to cleaning. A quick wipe-down with a soft cloth and a wood-safe cleaner should be all you need to keep this coffee table looking great for years to come.
Pros
Solid wood construction
Minimalist design that will look great in any decade
Easy to wipe clean
Lower shelf storage for books, chargers, coasters, and more
Can purchase a matching Serif side table, credenza, and/or bench
The Serif Coffee Table is made from solid wood—ash hardwood, to be exact. Even better, the wood comes from sustainably managed forests where trees are planted to restore all of the timber used, making it an eco-friendly option.
What Else is in the Serif Collection?
If you like the Serif Coffee Table as much as I do, then you’ll love the fact that you can also purchase a matching credenza, side table, and/or bench from Burrow‘s Serif Collection. Each piece from the collection features the same airy, danish-inspired design as the coffee table, as well as solid wood construction that ensures the pieces are as durable and long-lasting as they are beautiful.
If you’re looking for something a little different The Carta Coffee Table is another great option, supported by the matching Carta range. Burrow also has the Signal Coffee Table which is a metal coffee table with a choice of a marble of wood top.

Beautiful designs that work well (and last)
Burrow has a strong focus on both style and substance. Its furniture is inspired by American Mid-Century Modernism and contemporary Scandinavian interior design. Its furniture features acute attention to detail to ensure each piece meets the demands of modern living with functional features like built-in chargers, modular design, and concealed storage. Each piece is designed to last years and adapt with you.
Simply put, the Serif coffee table has been an amazing addition to our living room furniture. It’s beautiful, practical, and rocks a high-end, streamlined design that somehow feels both trendy and timeless. It also has plenty of surface area for our various knick-knacks and living room essentials, but its airy silhouette means it can work well in both large and small spaces.
