If you’re looking to make a statement in your space, go big. Sure, you could spring for a stunning piece of art or a vintage coffee table, or you could go bold with the biggest piece in your living room: your sofa.
A curved sofa is elegant yet loungey, vintage-inspired yet modern, and it’s a conversation starter that will stop everyone in their tracks. A simple sectional or a soft, cozy couch gets the job done, but a curved sofa is a work of art. It’s the place you lounge with a martini in hand wearing a glamorous robe. It’s where you entertain friends while sipping champagne and dining from a curated charcuterie board placed on a chic coffee table. A curved sofa has the same conversational seating appeal of a sectional but with so much style.
Ready to embrace the artsy, sleek vibes of a curved sofa? Here are 16 of the best curved sofas available in 2022, including several that are perfect for small space living.

Curved Sofa FAQs
What Shape Coffee Table Works with a Curved Sofa?
With a curved sofa’s sweeping lines, a square coffee table is going to fight an uphill battle. But a round coffee table will settle right into all its curves. Castro says, “This type of sofa deserves a round coffee table all the way!”
“This type of sofa deserves a round coffee table all the way!”
However, you’re not limited to a simple round coffee table. There’s plenty of room to get creative, whether that’s through poufs, storage ottomans, or even nesting tables.
Castro adds, “If you want to go the more unconventional route, try bringing in a couple of round nesting tables for a fun mix! Nesting tables vary in diameter size and height so one gets tucked under the other just halfway. The best part is you’ll have more than one so you can always separate them and use them when you have extra guests.” And that’s perfect for a sofa that’s practically begging to entertain, right?
Where Should You Place a Curved Sofa in a Room?
A curved sofa is a unique piece when it comes to placement and can create interior design challenges. Because of the curves, you do lose square footage around each side as it’s not going to fit flush with the walls. If you have a large living room, that’s not a concern, but in an apartment or smaller space, where every inch matters, a curved sofa has to be carefully selected. In those cases, look for those where the back is curved, but the overall footprint is still rectangular.
“If you’re not worried about space, the best location for a curved sofa will usually be the center of the room, simply because It won’t give you dead corners if placed next to two walls."
Castro explains, “If you’re not worried about space, the best location for a curved sofa will usually be the center of the room, simply because It won’t give you dead corners if placed next to two walls. Also, curved sofas are a total statement on their own—they need their space to shine!”
With curved edges, the room will flow best if you have walkways around those sides. Then, place accent chairs on either side. Castro says, “While the accent chairs don’t need to mimic the round form, make sure they fit proportionally with the sectional to avoid closing off the sitting area and instead creating a really welcoming environment.”
What Do You Put Behind a Curved Sofa?
The curve of the sofa can throw even the savviest decorators off when it comes time to place something behind it. An arc lamp echoes the lines of the sofa, and a fiddle leaf fig would make for a lush complement to the graceful curved sofa. Of course, a console table is always practical, though you’ll need to look for a smaller size or even a half moon style table. Whether you place a lamp, plant, or console table behind the sofa, it shouldn’t extend past the frame of the flattest part of the sofa.
“Depending on the size of the sofa, try bringing in a charming console table behind it but be mindful if the table has angular corners that they don’t stick out past beyond the sofa length, mainly for safety reasons,” suggests Castro.
