About Outer

Founded by Terry Lin and Jiake Liu, Outer wants to inspire more people to enjoy the simple luxuries that backyards, decks, and patios have to offer. Its founders realized that as we’ve become accustomed to living our lives indoors — from our homes to our offices and the commutes in between — we’ve forgotten how important quality time outdoors can be.

Outer takes an eco-friendly approach to manufacturing (its sofa is made from 30% recycled materials and is 100% recyclable) and is committed to delivering the highest quality, sustainable products to customers. Outer sells direct-to-consumers to avoid retail markups and keep costs down.
