Maiden Home believes that you shouldn’t settle–for generic design, lesser quality, or anything short of perfect. The New York-based brand crafts heritage quality furniture, direct from our craftsmen, minus the retail markup. The Crosby Sofa (pictured above) is a timeless classic with clean lines, the simple tapped leg allows the form to do the talking.
"Inspired by an iconic mid century shape, The Mercer is modern and minimal without sacrificing comfort. Each piece of Maiden Home furniture is made-to-order in the North Carolina region using premium materials and cut-no-corners construction techniques.
"What I love about the company is that they are female founded, and support American made furniture makers," says Brooklyn-based interior designer Alex Nino. "I also appreciate that so many of their upholstery options are performance fabrics, which is something that's so important to keep in mind when investing in any piece of high traffic furniture."

Mid-century furniture has a classic, timeless style that is easy to mix in and blend with other styles. Emily Jones, design advisor at Maiden Home told us that mid-century is usually defined by:
Clean lines paired with strong prominent curves
Mixing heavily textured textiles with metals and woods for a blended material palette
Details highlighted through texture and form while still feeling minimal
"A piece of furniture is mid-century modern when there’s a marriage between form, material, and function," says Jones. "Removing some of the frills and details prominent in traditional furniture’s silhouettes, mid century moves to highlight the beauty in simple forms."
Though simple in form, The Mercer’s steel frame contrasts with the curves of the cushion to create a harmony between two differences
"Mid century furniture focuses on simplifying highly detailed frames into stunning silhouettes that emphasize clean forms. Instead of intricate details in form, details are layered in through materials, shape, and texture," adds Jones.
Why is Mid-Century Modern Furniture So Popular?
Despite being around for decades, mid-century modern furniture is as popular today as it's ever been. "A Big part of the reason why mid-century modern design is so popular has to do with the fact that it combines two of the most important elements that people want to see in their homes: functionality and aesthetics," says Yoselin Castro, Senior Interior Designer at Mackenzie Collier Interiors.
"Having a home that is filled with practical furniture allows one to love and enjoy their space as much as possible and even more when it’s filled with beautiful things too," adds Castro.
